A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step…
1) Emergency Treatment
This involves short term emergency treatment provided to get your out of pain or discomfort and may be carried out on your consultation appointment (with additional fees), time permitted.
2) Prevention Regime
This will take an in-depth look at your current oral hygiene regime, diet, social life and ensure that before you embark on treatment that you are able to maintain adequate plaque removal, have the correct exposure to fluoride as well as ensure your diet and social habits are healthy.
3) Stabilisation Plan
This plan will include treatment that is aimed to remove dental decay, replace failing restorations, improve your gum health as well as non-urgent extractions and root canal treatment. This should be considered the most important aspect of your treatment plan as it ensures all teeth are free of pathology and functionally sound prior to cosmetic investment.
5) Planning Phase
This allows us to plan your final restorations, be it a simple crown to a full mouth rehabilitation using porcelain veneers, composite bonding or dentures alongside cosmetic analogue/digital smile design. This phase may include the use of tooth whitening to improve your tooth colour prior to placement of any definite restorations as well as orthodontic treatment to move teeth into more favourable positions for the most minimally invasive rehabilitation/cosmetic treatment
4) Review Period
This review period can last for a few weeks to a few months and is an opportunity for us to monitor your plaque control and ensure the stabilisation treatment carried out is successful. Following this review period you may need to re-enter another Stabilisation Plan particularly in cases of gum disease.
6) Definitive Restorations & Rehabilitation
This is the final portion of your active treatment plan and will involve the provision of restorations such as crowns, bridges, implants, veneers, dentures, and cosmetic bonding.
The Treatment Plan
When you receive your treatment plan you will find that I have split your treatment items into certain appointments and time frames. The reason for this, is to build a stable dentition from the foundations up to ensure that before we progress to a more invasive and indeed more expensive treatment that you can maintain a healthy dentition. Your appointments after your consultation with us will follow a logical approach to the provision of your treatment/smile makeover, using various smaller plans and phases to get to your end goal. Sometimes these phases can be combined and other times they will be lengthy and may require multiple courses and extensive review.
7) Maintenance Plan
Now that your treatment is complete, we will provide you with a maintenance plan to be discharged back to your regular GDP or to remain as a routine patient with myself. This will discuss when you should attend for your regular dental check-ups, how often you should attend for a hygiene visit/scale and polish as well as your retainer protocol, if you had orthodontic treatment carried out.
